Twenty-eight women raced tonight, and, though it was a little cooler than last week, the lower wind speed contributed to excellent performances. Erika Revesz cracked the 15 minute barrier giving the first 40+ km/h WTT result of the year, and all but three of the 18 women who were out both this week and last improved. In fact six women increased their cube-speed by more than 10%. It was wonderful to have Mary Ajersch back after her difficult post-concussion rehabilitative year in 2009, and great to see Sandra Bender finally starting to feel well after being hit by a car two years ago - so well that she managed to improve despite riding with her brakes on tonight! Note that Mary Ajersch is now in the 70-79 year old category, and she set her first VEF record tonight. There are sure to be many more! By the way, the most populous and quickest category of the night were the Veteran C women - The average of the average speed for us was more than 35 km/h. For your curiosity, you may see how tonight's performances rate relative to the handicaps devised from the British VTTA age/gender standards by clicking here. Note that the British admit that their standards are a little too generous in terms of age, but not generous enough in terms of gender. You may also check out the other handicaps which are currently available on this site.
These results were first posted on the OBC site circa 22:00 on 2010-May-11 and are available here for your added pleasure.
(Note that I'd gladly type in the results each time, getting the results up within a few of hours of the event, as I did for the WTT series for the decade beginning in 1998, and for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. Regardless, I will continue to donate this statistical time trial result service to you, even though doing so has, surprisingly, resulted in my EXPULSION from the OBC ! I guess I must at least thank the OBC executive for taking on the grunt work and leaving me to do just the more interesting side of my result service, but I do want to make it absolutely clear that I would gladly help the OBC Board input the results, lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface! The choice is theirs. If they want the help, I'm here and will do it - even if I remain expelled! Such is my level of dedication to public service and disinterest in private politics.)
